2004 Merit Award
Mr. Thomas “Tom” W. Carmody and Dr. Mannan
The 2004 Merit Award was presented to Mr. Thomas “Tom” W. Carmody.
After serving a long and distinguished career with Union Carbide, Tom retired to start his next career. He became the founding director of the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), an industry partnership of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Tom gave substance and content to many of the programs of CCPS.
In recognizing Tom’s accomplishment and presenting him the award, Dr. Sam Mannan said,
“The 2004 Merit Award not only recognizes Tom’s accomplishments and achievements, but also underscores the significant role played by CCPS in shaping process safety issues.”
