2000 Service Award
The 2000 Service Award was presented to Dr. Harry West. Dr. West had given selflessly to assist the activities and programs of the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center from the very first day that the Center opened its doors. Dr. West had over thirty years experience in engineering consulting and technical project management for the petroleum, gas, chemical, water, and pipeline industries, with particular emphasis on process safety and automation engineering. Since 1970, Dr. West had provided engineering consulting services to the petrochemical industry. He was involved in over 20 peak-shaving or base-load LNG plants worldwide, ranging from conceptual design to regulatory approval to operational trouble-shooting assignments. Dr. West was the leader of the group that introduced quantitative hazards analysis to the petrochemical process industry. He had international experience in project automation, trouble shooting, chemical process accident litigation support, arbitration assistance and expert testimony. Dr. West had given of his time, advice, and support freely to the Center. |
